Privacy Policy

This policy explains what the Mingo apps and website, operated by Mingo Application LLC ("Mingo", "we"), collect, why, who helps us, and the choices you have. We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use it for advertising outside Mingo.
What we collect

Usage data
If "Share usage data" is on (Profile → settings), Mingo records what you open, save and check in to, stored under a scrambled id rather than your name, email or account id, to understand what's useful and improve suggestions. You can turn it off at any time. This data is deleted automatically after 25 months, or when you delete your account.
What other people can see
If you're 18 or older, you have a Mingo Match card that other Mingo users near you can find. It shows your name, photo, headline, city and the interests you have in common with them; your full list of interests is used to match you with people. Friends you add can also see all your interests, your level and badges, places you've shared and meetups you're going to. Your check-ins and saved places are private unless you choose to share them with friends. Your exact location is never shown; Match only uses your approximate area (roughly 70 miles across). Posts, reviews, comments and meetups you publish in Community are visible to other Mingo users. Messages you send are visible only to you and the friend you're chatting with.
Who helps us
We use service providers that process data on our behalf, under their own security and privacy commitments:
- Google Cloud and Firebase: sign-in, database, file storage, server functions and analytics storage (BigQuery).
- Stripe: business subscriptions and payments.
- Apple, Google and Facebook: sign-in, if you choose them.
- Google Places, OpenStreetMap services and Open-Meteo: place details, photos, address lookups, maps and weather. They receive place names, addresses you search for or an approximate location, not your identity.
- Ticketmaster, SeatGeek, Eventbrite, ESPN and TMDB: event, sports and movie listings. Our servers ask them for listings in an area; they don't receive your personal information.
We may share information if the law requires it, to protect people's safety, or as part of a merger or sale of Mingo, in which case this policy continues to apply.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information while your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, posts, reviews, comments, messages, check-ins, points and usage data. Some records may be kept longer where the law requires it, such as payment records for businesses, and anonymous business totals (for example, how many points a business issued in a month) may be kept without your personal information.
Your choices and rights
- Edit your profile and interests at any time in the app.
- Turn location, notifications and "Share usage data" on or off.
- Choose whether friends can see your check-ins and saved places.
- Delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete account) or see our account deletion page.
- Ask us for a copy of your data or to correct it by emailing mingotech@icloud.com. Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU), you may have additional rights, and we'll honor them.
Children
Mingo isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, access is limited by security rules, and points and payments can only be changed by our servers. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong sign-in and tell us about any concern.
